What should I do if I add the wrong fuel to my car?

It’s rare for a car to get the wrong fuel, but it does happen from time to time. Usually, when refueling by yourself, you don’t see it clearly, just pick up the oil gun and add it. In any case, as long as you know that you have added the wrong fuel, you cannot continue to drive, and you should contact the repair shop to rescue the trailer in time.

The wrong oil filling here usually means adding diesel to gasoline vehicles, or adding gasoline to diesel vehicles. There are two other cases: the car that should add 92 adds 95, or the car that adds 95 adds 92. Briefly describe these two situations. If 95 is added to a 92 car, then there is no problem at all, but it will cost more money. Because the compression ratio of current cars is relatively high, the recommended oil standard for most car manufacturers is: please use gasoline with a grade of 92 or higher. That is to say, 95 is no problem, and even some cars may be more suitable for 95 although 92 is recommended. So the addition of 92 to 95, don’t worry about it.

Besides, the addition of 95 is 92. The premise is that the manufacturer requires a minimum of 95 oil, and now 92 is added. This situation is a little problematic, because the fuel level is too low, detonation and knocking may occur, and the power is reduced. If you have the conditions, you can extract the oil and add 95. If you don’t want to take it out, or there is no 95 available around, you can also add fuel additives to improve anti-knock performance, which will basically have no effect on the car. If there are no additives to add, then you can continue to use 92. After all, only one tank of oil will not have much impact on the engine, as long as you don??t use 92 often.

The most serious thing is the wrong addition of diesel, which really happens. With the addition of diesel, you can only find out after the ignition. If there is still some gasoline in the fuel tank, you can even find it after driving for a while. The phenomenon is that the car is weak, shakes violently, emits black smoke, and if the diesel ratio is high, it will fail to ignite. If these abnormalities occur just after refueling, then the possibility of adding the wrong oil is relatively high. Pull aside and turn off the fire, contact the rescue trailer directly, and do not continue to drive.

Adding the wrong oil will not cause fatal damage to the engine, but because it cannot burn normally, it will produce a large amount of carbon deposits that adhere to the At the top of the piston, at the valves, and at the injectors and spark plugs. Over time, it will also affect the life of the gasoline pump and fuel injector. If it is found that there is no ignition after adding the wrong oil, then just drain the oil in the fuel tank and it will have no effect on the car. If it is found after driving for a while, then the cleaning should be more thorough. You need to remove the fuel tank and drain all the oil, including the oil in the gasoline pump, and then clean the fuel tank; clean the oil circuit and combustion chamber; replace the gasoline filter element. After doing this, there is generally no problem, plus gasoline, it can be used normally.
