It’s almost summer, and it’s hot. When the weather is hot, you need to turn on the air conditioner when driving. Many car owners will struggle with the fuel consumption problem after turning on the air conditioner. After all, they spend their own money. So does the air conditioner in the car consume a lot of fuel? Does the lower the temperature, the higher the fuel consumption?
The fuel consumption of the car with refrigeration and air conditioning is certain. It’s just that it’s very fuel-efficient, not necessarily. Because the air conditioning of the vehicle requires the compressor to work, and the work of all the equipment systems of the vehicle will increase the fuel consumption, not to mention that the air conditioning compressor is not a small piece of equipment. In general, the fuel consumption of the vehicle will increase by about 10% if the refrigeration and air conditioning is turned on.
How much the fuel consumption increases after the vehicle turns on the refrigeration and air-conditioning is also related to the temperature at which the driver turns on the air-conditioning. The lower the temperature is, the higher the fuel consumption will be, but if the air conditioner of the vehicle is turned on or off, the original increase is not particularly severe. It can only be said that there will be a difference in how much the fuel consumption increases, but it is really small and can be ignored.
Since turning on the air conditioner consumes fuel, can we save fuel by opening the window and blowing in the air in summer? In fact, opening the windows for ventilation during driving will increase the wind resistance. If the wind resistance is large, it will also increase the fuel consumption. In comparison, it is similar to turning on the air conditioner. And even if the window is open, the temperature is still there in a really big summer, it won’t drop because of the wind, but it will be slightly more comfortable than no wind. And in the high temperature state, people will be more impetuous and unstable, and it is easy to cause some dangerous driving behaviors. We should not take this risk.
So, in summer, whether it is in terms of driving comfort or safety, it is recommended to turn on the refrigeration and air conditioning. Within the range, there is not much more, and if the air conditioner is not turned on, the window must be opened. Once the window is opened, the fuel consumption of the air conditioner is basically saved, so why bother.
