Three reasons for abnormal engine oil pressure

In addition to the pumping capacity of the oil pump, the passage area of the oil passage (referring to the oil passage, the clearance of the filter element and the lubricating part, etc.) and the viscosity of the oil will affect the oil pressure.

When the engine is working, the normal oil pressure must be maintained. If the oil pressure is too low, the friction surfaces will wear faster due to insufficient lubrication; if the oil pressure is too high, it is easy to crush the oil seal and oil pipe, consuming engine power. When the car is running, the pressure of the lubricating oil is generally maintained at 0.2-0.5mpa. When the engine is idling, the oil pressure should not be lower than 0.1mpa.

1. If the oil pressure is too low, it will destroy the lubricating conditions of the engine, resulting in poor lubrication, cooling and cleaning, and will cause adhesion and wear of parts. Excessive clearance between crankshaft main journal and connecting rod journal and bearing, too low oil viscosity and rupture of filter element will cause too low oil pressure.

2. Excessive oil pressure, although rare, will also destroy normal lubrication conditions. If the viscosity of the oil is too large, the oil is deteriorated and gelled, the filter element and oil passage are blocked, and the pressure regulating valve is improperly adjusted or cannot be opened, the oil pressure will be too high.

3. Excessive oil consumption. The ratio of engine oil consumption to gasoline is 0.5%-1%. If it is more than 1%, it is not normal. In addition to oil leakage, the reason for excessive oil consumption is more oil burning. The main reasons are: excessive clearance between the piston and the cylinder wall; excessive wear or even insufficient elasticity of the piston ring; excessive wear of the valve guide; damage to the valve stem oil seal.
